2010 Winter Carnival of Magic
Thursday Night
The Winter Carnival of Magic kicked off at 7:00pm on Thursday with the third Hocus in Focus Auction. This year's auction was even bigger than the previous two. Over 100 items were auctioned off in a two-and-a-half hour period. The proceeds from the auction are donated to the IBM endowment fund.
After the auction, Scott Francis and his wife took the stage to present their Macgyver lecture. The lecture was a tag team of Scott demonstrating the effects and his wife explaining in detail how each of the gimmicks were created. Some of the effects the couples covered included the speed thread reel, the card fountain, a stretch arm, a remote control deck of cards, a comedy drawing board, Peeper Puppets, and a duet of dancing tissues. The entire lecture was filled with inspirational stories from different people Scott has met throughout his life and career.
