2008 Winter Carnival of Magic
Friday Morning

Those that made it out of bed early enough were treated to the antics of Charlie Frye. Charlie demonstrated many of the tricks that are available on his DVD series. He showed the audience how to float a dollar bill over their heads and how to balance several different objects on their head. Charlie also demonstrated his coins to glass and ring and string routines.

Charlie Frye was followed by Fielding West. Fielding presented his completely safe dove harness and demonstrated how to use it. He also provided the audience with other applications for the harness. He showed a nice ring vanish and finished his lecture with several interesting things to do with balloons.

The Fielding West lecture was followed by the annual close up competition. This year boasted several excellent routines. There were 9 competitors and they treated the audience to a varity of routines. This year included the popular equal / unequal ropes and cups and balls. Audience members were also treated to ropes and rings, sponge ball routines, 4 ace productions and outrageous predictions.

The early entertainment was rounded out by an extremely funny lecture by Steve Beam. Steve performed and explained several of his tricks from his books Semi-Automatic Card Tricks. The audience was in howls at times during his antics and Steve's explanations left little questions about how he pulled it off.
